Necessary Viewing

So I saw Episode 3 last night with Katie and her brother Jeff. I'm working on a longer, more thought out review-type thing which I'll post later.

For now, I'd like to recommend that anyone who liked The Lord of the Rings movies at all should go watch this trailer right now. Yes, its New Zealand, and yes, its Weta again. This movie has the makings of something spectacular, and its about damn time that they made it right.

Comcast is coming today to setup our cable and internet. I'm looking forward to not mooching off various and sundry wireless networks owned by other occupants of our building. It makes me feel kind of guilty and I can't stand not being able to control things like that. We also have our new washer and dryer scheduled for delivery today. Katie's really excited, of course. These things are pretty amazing, even I must admit that.

I'll be back later with Star Wars stuff....

Wow...I mean, just wow.

So I really hate the trek from Chattavegas to New Hampshire. Its a 20 hour behemoth of a drive and Katie and I have done it something like 6 or 7 times now. Thankfully we were able to break it up into two days this time, but still...the 12 hour final leg today isn't exactly a picnic.

But enough about driving, we got to our new home today. We're renting an apartment in Newmarket, New Hampshire. Its really sweet. Basically brand new, two bedrooms (one of which will become my study/domain/fifedom/fortress of solitude), two full bathrooms, a monstrous kitchen (which is probably the main reason we got it) and an equally ginanimous living room. Overall the place is very clean and we can't wait to unload our stuff and get it all situated. Oh yeah, there's also a porch....

We went out on the porch after Katie's family left (they came to show us the placed and hang out while we opened wedding presents), just to scope out the view which is very nice. Unfortunately, Katie forgot to check the door as she came out and didn't realize the handle was locked. Its one of these knobs that will turn on the inside but remain locked on the outside. Anyways, we were locked out, sans keys, cell phones, blankets, or any kind of warm material. And it was raining and very cold. After spending 20 minutes trying unsuccessfully to pop open a window or somehow beat open the door Katie started yelling for help. Eventually one of our neighbors stuck her head out and asked what was going on. We got her to call the management and had them send someone out to help. Unfortunately, they sent a real idiot and he did a drive-by of the back road, didn't see anyone and then left. Our neighbor (bless her heart) kept calling him until he got back into his car and came out again, some two and a half hours after we had been locked out. By this time Katie is on the verge of freezing to death, but the girls lowered us some blankets that helped warm things up. Keep in mind that its raining this whole time so our feet are soaked and its so cold there are little ice particles swirling in the air. The dude finally got there and offered some lame excuse for not seeing us the first time. Whatever...we're back inside and its warm. I'm sure someday I'll look back on this night and laugh about it. However, seeing as my feet are still thawing out I have a feeling that won't be happening anytime soon.

I need sleep...tomorrow is shopping day. Cheers!

I got me a wife

Katie and I got married this past Saturday. As of now I still feel like I'm living someone else's life. That at some point in the next few days I'm going to have some sort of self-revelation experience and I'll realize that I'm still a freshman and have a term paper to finish. Its scary.

The wedding surpassed our hopes and dreams in pretty much every way. It was unbelievable seeing so many people from our past and present mingling and having fun together. It rained all through the ceremony so we were worrying (or we would have been if we could think straight at all) about the reception. At some point during the ceremony I lost all feeling in my feet and almost keeled over. My mind was moving slower than molasses and all I could think about was: "Don't forget to say 'I do', Don't forget to say 'I do.'" My best man AJ ran out of the room to get a chair making me wonder if I was really THAT pale. Turns out it was for the pastor.... Then we were outside and everyone was congratulating us. The rest of the night was really just a blur. I was seeing people I hadn't seen in YEARS and re-meeting Katie's extended family again. There were lots of pictures, lots of wine, and a good deal of dancing. The weather cleared up beautifully and it turned into an absolutely gorgeous night. Providence anyone? If anyone wants pictures of anything please let me know...our photographer is hooking us up with the master CDs (she shot the whole thing in digital).

Right now we are in Quebec City in, you know, Quebec. The flight up was interesting...I will never fly NWA willingly again. We had several completely ridiculous delays on the way from Atlanta to Detroit ultimately requiring Katie and I to sprint through the Detroit airport so we could make our connection. Oh yeah, and my bag didn't make it. Katie's did, but not mine...go figure. Anyways, once we got here things got much better. Our hotel (le Hotel des Coutellier) is fantastic and the food in this town is off the charts. Expensive most of the time but unlike anything I've ever had. Its like a slightly more westernized version of Paris. European architecture, castles, etc...its really quite wonderful. I strongly encourage everyone to check out our online photo album on WebShots. We will be adding more pictures soon.

Cheers!
