Wasting my life away

I have no idea why I'm still up. Its going to be a real pain in the a$$ getting back on a school schedule again.

Duty? No...
I would have you smile again.
Not grieve for those whose time has come.
You shall live to see these day renewed.
No more despair.

I've decided that Bernard Hill's Theoden is possibly my favorite character from Return of the King. That line above just sums it up for me. If you haven't seen the Extended Edition yet, do so at your earliest convenience. Its spectacular...

My house is a large refrigerator

No, seriously. I woke up the other morning and there was actually some ice on the top of a water glass in the living room. I think we should start offering to store some of our neighbor's perishables in exchange for monetary compensation. I hope our landlord gets over here soon so we can get the gas stove working.

This break has been truly wonderful thus far. I haven't had much chance to simply shut down, but that's ok. I spent most of the weekend up at my parents house which afforded me hot meals, plenty of QT with our dogs, and some intense board game action. Christmas for me was fairly small this year since my main "present" came in the form of some assistance with the down payment on my car back in August. This is perfectly acceptable to me. I did get the extended edition of ROTK from my parents, the final installment of their annual gift (I now have all three). Let me just say, this version of the movie is absolutely breathtaking...I've never seen anything like it before. I'll post more on that later.

I spent much of Christmas day immersed in a very intense game of Lord of the Rings Risk which my sister Amy received as a present. I was a bit skeptical of this rendition of the Risk formula, but it actually works out to be quite intriguing. The whole game works around a timeline (that being the variable amount of time it takes to destroy the ring) and various in-game events which influence each team. Its quite fun...Amy and were doing quite well as the forces of good (I controlled most of Arnor, Mirkwood, and Rhun for a short time) until my dad turned in a set of cards and then blasted a path of destruction through all three of my continents. Things looked bleak until the ring was destroyed and my father and sister Elizabeth were left in ruin. :)

Speaking of my dad... Most people assume that my father is nothing more than a mild-mannered musicologist. The truth is actually quite the opposite. He is an incredibly viscious man who is incapable of remorse. I cannot remember how many times I have been completely ruined at the hands of him and his legions of terror (this title is particularly appropriate when he plays as the Axis in Axis and Allies). I'm looking forward to going up against him next week. I don't think Zach and AJ know what they are getting into.

Cheers!

**ATTENTION** All Covbloggers Please Read!!

Hey guys, you've probably been noticing an increasingly frequent tendency for the Terrablogs servers to crash. Some of you may have already figured this out, but for everyone else, all these crashes are directly related to the insane amount of spam we've all been getting on our blogs. This spam builds up and eventually overloads the Coptix servers which power everything. Apparently the dudes at Coptix (they're a pretty cool bunch after all) have been working their butts off to keep us running and its been annoying the spammers (hence the dramatic increase in spam over the past few days). As a result, Josiah has been forced to take the comment system offline for a few days in order to upgrade and prevent future denial-of-service attacks. If you want another version of what I just said head on over to his place and check it out.

So yeah, everything should be back to normal pretty soon. All of your thanks and appreciation for Coptix can be posted here once comments are enabled again. :)
