I just got done with my first real assignment for Linguistics this semester and it rocked. I love this class...there's just something about being able to write english words in strange and rather absurd ways that is really appealing to me. I wish I could throw up a few examples of what me and Michael and Linnea were working on tonight, but sadly I have way of creating many of the symbols we used.
I spent the weekend practically ignoring the 6 journals I had to write for my Creative Writing class (this caught up with me in a big way last night). Instead I partied into the early hours with Spoon, Zach, and Jared. We had some insane games of NFL Blitz going (I whooped it up on Zach and Spoon three games in a row) and some equally exciting rounds of Crimson Skies and Medal of Honor: Rising Sun. We even got Matty in on some of the Crimson Skies (a really cool WW2 dogfighting game...Keep Away is intense). To continue my current (or maybe continued?) Xbox obsession, I've gone and gotten myself hooked on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. I'd been doing my best to stay away from this time-consuming beast of a game, but Todd started playing it in my room and I couldn't be held back. For the record, its amazing. At this point I'm a level 2 Jedi Sentinel and I'm not even a third of the way into the game (takes roughly 40-50 hours to complete). I'd better get this done quickly before my work really starts to kick in.
So yeah, good times. I'm incredibly tired right now though and I still have to finish up my Journalism assignment for tomorrow. Basically I just have to read up on current events and evaluate different examples of news value judgements...nothing too difficult, but its time I don't want to spend right now. I developed my first set of negatives for photography this morning and so far everything seems to have come out fine. We make our first contact sheets on Thursday...I can't wait to see how some of these shots came out. I may be scanning a few later on to post here.
That's enough for now. I've postponed my plans for an overhaul until my wireless card arrives and I can get my computer up on Covenant's network. It should be here by the end of the week. Until next time...
Oh yeah, Happy Birthday Dunx...wish I could have been there for the party. I bet it was a blast. I miss you guys...
Wow...I'm ashamed of myself for going this long without blogging. Granted, the last two weeks have been insanely packed with travelling, moving, school, etc etc, but I really should have taken some time to toss a few posts up.
My humble apologies to anyone reading this.
Let's see...
I believe my last blog was from Scotland, which means there's quite a few things I need to update everyone on. In fact, there's too many things so I'm not going to go into detail. :) Suffice it to say, the trip back was long, boring, and extremely gratifying at the end. After 31 hours of travelling which included 10-11 hours on planes, 7 on a train, 1.5 in a bus, and another 2.5 in a car (the rest was various scatterings of layover time), and one airplane malfunction which forced us to change flights completely, me and Zach arrived back home. Seeing Katie and my parents again made it all worthwhile though. Without a doubt.
I didn't really have much time to relax at home though as my family left on Christmas to drive up to New England. Over the next ten days I was at my mom's family reunion, and then Katie's house, and then driving back home again...one big whirlwind. When we got back I was able to go with my mom to pick up our dog from the kennel (I hadn't seen him yet) and that was great...we wrestled for awhile in the living room before he had his dinner. I got to relax at home on that Monday (the 5th) and then I had to move up to school the next day...classes started last Wednesday.
In then end, its all good though. I have my own room again this semester (with a really spiffy setup, if I may say so myself) and its good seeing everyone at school again. So far I'm really enjoying my classes, but then I haven't really had to do much yet so that impression may change. I miss everyone from 54A...though again I doubt any of you would recognize me right away (or Zach for that matter). One of the first orders of business upon arriving home was a haircut and shave...the results were quite dramatic. I didn't realize just how long my beard had gotten until I saw the hair in the sink...scary.
Expect to see some changes around this place...namely a new title and perhaps some new layout, though I'm not sure what I'll change. Rest assured, new Jeff Kyle material is on its way (sorry for slacking off Mesh), among other things. I leave you with a top 5 list in the hopes that I can get some interaction going again (that means you Strauss). Until next time...
