8th grade Part 2....

So I was thinking...I probably have the worst job to be caught with my fly down. I mean, if you work in a cubicle all day, then eventually you will look down and notice that among the coffee stains and wrinkles, that you should zip your pants. And even if you are on a construction crew, it wouldn't be so bad. But 8th graders, they will never let you hear the end of it.
Now I don't speak from personal experience, but there is still plenty of time in the school year. I'm already trying to think of a response, like "I did that on purpose to show you guys that although I'm embarrassed, I still have my self-esteem." Or, "This used to be in fashion when I was in 8th grade." But of course, none of these will do. So I either I have to wear a tie every day that goes down to my knees, or I will have to come up with an "automatic zipper-up" technology. Hey, has anyone thought of that before?

I remember in 6th grade we had a really dorky Bible teacher and once his fly was down. Of course, we were all tittering about it. And, of course, he demanded to know why we were all in stitches. One brave soul went up and whispered in his ear, and he said "well, I guess that is pretty funny." and turned around and zipped up. I imagine, though, that 8th graders wouldn't be quite as generous. If it's any consolation, thousands of teachers succeed through the school year without this incident ever befalling them.

Ken, "auto-zipper-up" technology petrifies me for reasons you can likely imagine. That's probably why it remains uninvented.
