This is one of the greatest albums ever! Transformer was the second solo album recorded by The Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed. Transformer was released only six months after his first solo album "Lou Reed."
Transformer was produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson ( David Bowie's guitarist durring the Ziggy Stardust era) both of whom I consider to be musical geniuses.
This is also quite impressive because David Bowie had just finished working on, in my opinion, one of the greatest records of all time, Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders form Mars. It was released in 1972, the same year that Transformer was, Mr. Bowie was one bussy man..... but enough about David Bowie....
Lou Reed was and is one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. How could he not have been? I think anyone would be pretty darn influential if they were in the regular company of musical and cultural revolutionaries like Iggy Pop, David Bowie, and Patty Smith. Lou Reed is one of my personal heros, his music is simple, and to the point, yet very complex and ambiguous at the very same time. Give him a listen, you might like it.
Ok folks, im new to this.... so here it goes.
(Ok, first of all, you need to know that while you read this you need to imagine "the boys are back in town" playing in the background)
Im back, after a much anticipated sabatticle im back and in popular demand. As some of you already know, i was suspended form Covenant back in the Fall 2002 semester. Ashamedly I was only able to muster a 0.38 total GPA for my maiden voyage here at Covenant. Mind you it is not because i lack the mind or capability, it was simply a matter of motivation and caring, mainly the lack of motivation and caring.
Since I was given the boot I have been back home in Dayton, Ohio attending a local university trying to make the grade. And make the grade I did, I got two B's and three A's! Three weeks ago I drove down to good ol' Lookout Mountain all the way from Ohio just to talk to a certain Dean of Records. I came all the way down here just to show him how serious I was, and how much I've changed as far as study habbits and academic preformance. I suppose my good grades and aparent motivation and ambition to return to Covenant weren't enough.... I was told that it isn't in the Lords Will for me to be back at covenant yet. So......
Now I have moved from my plush and comfortable life in Dayton (I was in 3 bands, compiling more electronic music, DJing at raves, living in one of the nicest apartments I've ever seen, and making a TON of money...) to the lovely, but not too lovely, city of Chattanooga, TN. If you cant tell yet, I am very serious about returning to Covenant, I need a college education, and I need a Covenant education (I plan to go into Youth Ministry). I moved here so I could take some classes at Covenant part-time, and take a full time load at one of the local community colleges. All of this..... Just to impress the Dean of Records, and the Commitee that descides my fate..... but it's worth it if I can get back in...
Well, That prettty much summs up why im back, and what my plans for the future are. Ill keep you updated on the "Voyage Back Home to Covenant"... Hopefully all goes well and I'll be enrolled as a full-time student by Fall 2004.
Like I said in the very beginning, Im new to this, so it might take me a while to figure things out, but dont worry too much, Ill figure it out soon enough.
