Zapatero

The New York Times reports J. L. R. Zapatero (Spain's new PM) as saying "We can't win against terrorism or rout it through wars, which are never an efficient way of eliminating or combating groups of fanatics, radicals and criminals."

So it's official:
Europe has already forgotten National Socialism.

so what you will about it, at least its an ethos.

Speaking of which Mr. M, when are you coming back to Chattavegas?

AND

have U seen The Big Lebowski?

Mr. R, I often find your comments v. cryptic.
Did you mean "say what you like ..."?
What is "it"?
National Socialism?
Pacifism?
European Political Idealism?
The New York Times? (OK, probably not)

By saying "at least it's an ethos" do you mean to compare it to something else that isn't (even) an ethos?
What?

I don't think I was ever in "Chattavegas." I've lived in Covenantland, and I've visited St. Elmo.
Unfortunately I can't say when I'll be back. I hope sooner rather than later. Maybe this summer... maybe.

AND
Yes, I have seen the Big L.
I like the other Cohen bro's films better.

Is this related to my entry in any way? Or are you, by swiftly changing the subject, offering some kind of subtle ironic comment on the fact that I suddenly threw in a political blog-byte in an otherwise abstract philosophical blog?

Well, I think the first part plays off the tagline of the Drone, Covenant's controversial satirical newspaper.

Aha!
The Drone (nice Platonic allusion)!
Thanx
Now I know the proximate origin of the line, and the referent of "it".
But still haven't the faintest idea of what The Drone was ironizing in its use of that cryptic line.

Ah, had forgetten there was this little discussion,

line in question is from "The Big Lebowski" as a comparison between nihilism and national socialism, as in, national socialism is bad, but hey, at least its an ethos whereas I suppose he's considering nihilism to be the absence of an ethos, itself I guess impossible...
