It all started so innocently

Sometimes I plan an art or craft project with E and it totally falls flat. Other times, I suggest a simple, "let's paint," and it goes in directions I never would've planned.

Ellis was very meticulous and serious when he turned the paintbrush to his hands and arm. At first I was freaking out, "paint goes on paper, kid!" But he wasn't going nuts with his paint, he was really exploring it, so I sat back and watched (very closely) and took pictures as a coping mechanism. When he was done exploring, he went and washed his hands. I kid you not!

When he was done, we hung his beautiful art to dry. That last one is my favorite one. I think I might frame it.

p.s. Like his smock I made him for Cmas? :-) I made it a dark, solid color on purpose. I thought it'd be cool to see the paint mark it up over time...like a built-in canvas.

(I'd comment more if I didn't have to add my info every time. Good thing the browser "memorizes" them for me)

That last one is awesome! I'd be totally freaking out too -- how great that he went and washed his hands! The smock is really cool!!!

that painting is really neato. I'd get one of those thick acrylic frames made for kids art at IKEA. It'd have that gallery thick frame effect but not overshadow the art. Keep painting Ellis, you'll take my class one day!

Kid handprints are the best. I keep forgetting to cut Liv's out and frame them. I think Ellis and Liv would love to hang out...

I DO like the smock and I love that you photographed all this. I'm a bit envious of the arm painting...it looks like great fun!

As soon as I saw that photo I thought "Cool smock!"
I got a sewing machine for x-mas and am trying to find the time to learn how to use it. My first project is to sew pockets for Ethan's battery pack :-)

I actually wrote a comment here that didn't show up, so my apology if it shows up twice! I noticed the cute smock immediately! And I got a sewing machine for x-mas!!
