blogrolling meme

Alli tagged me to do this a little while ago. So here goes!

<----Begin Token Paragraph---->

So this post is about perpetuating a list of family bloggers. Aka The Mommy Blog. Though I'm happy to make the cut, I've never really considered myself a Mommy Blogger. I mean, I blog about my kid...a lot, but I don't fashion my blogging persona as a mommy blogger in that my online "community" is about being a mommy or whatever. (EXCURSUS: I like how Jonesey put it and for lack of a link to describe the phenomenon, I'll just quote her--partly because it cracked me up!: "There is a whole large community of Mommy Blogs out there. They are called Mommy Blogs. And they are a big deal. They have contests, partys and get-togethers. They….”hang-out.” And they take Blogging fairly seriously. Like a job. I am new to this. I thought people just blogged because of the overflow of their hearts (I’m sure this is part of it-but it seems to have a bigger overall purpose). And these people make Jonesville look like I write my posts on a piece of paper with a crayon. I just didn’t realize there was this huge community putting some serious effort into serious blogposts about being a Mommy. I thought I had a Mommy Blog, I mean I am a Mommy and I blog, right? And these folks get THOUSANDS of visitors a day. THOUSANDS!" Thanks, Jonesey)

I do blog a lot about my kid and being a mom, but I blog a lot about other things, too. I'm not an Academic Blogger, but occasionally I write the academic post. I'm not a Crafty Blogger, but I do write the craft post. I'm not a Cooking Blogger, but I will talk about food. Etc. It's all part of the package. I've often thought about isolating one of these into its own blog, but I think I would do it disservice. All influence each other and come out in the great melange of My Writing. So there you have it. And now I will finish the meme.

(I don't know. Maybe I'm way too existential.)

<-----End Token Paragraph---->

Here are the rules:

1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post (about anything) and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content string. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra linkback.
2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.
3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.
4. Add no more than 5 new parenting or (Mommy/Daddy) blogs to the list in the “My Adds” section.

So I guess I'll tag:
Jonesey!! Jonesville: Population 5 (C'mon, after a post like that, you are so on!)

Hey, you blog as a complete person, not as one branch of a person. =) And you make this accessible for all your friends and family in addition to random visitors, not just for a certain kind of reader. I like your way.

Comments

I know what you mean when it comes to having absolutely no unifying thread to your blog except for the fact that you wrote it. This makes me readable to friends, highly unreadable to strangers. But then again, I don't write for strangers, so I guess it all evens out in the end.
