Dolly Dingle

When we were kids, we loved playing with these reproductions of vintage paper dolls created by the woman who eventually went on to create the Campbell soup kids. Hours were spent on adventures with Dolly Dingle and her buddies. My mom passed on one of our old paper doll books, with most of it still uncut. I traced one of the dolls and created a pattern for this doll, which is attached to a cute gingham to make it a nice cuddly pillow. It's the perfect size for little hands, and I plan to give it to my new little niece, Katarina!!

Okay, now you've gone just way too far. That's incredibly cute.

after seeing you make a hundred things from scratch at the Big House, i'm not exactly sure why all of your creative projects surprise me, but they still do! very cool and cute.

grrrrreat J! i like it so much better than the dolls that wee wonderfuls has! this one has more personality, and I can totally see the Cambell's quality! maybe your niece will dunk it in soup one day and it will feel totally at home.

Jet, maybe there is something you can do at home to make moola? Like sew cute little dolls and sell them??? This is tops!

katie, I actually was inspired by the wee wonderfuls...at least the embroidery. I studied her dolls carefully for technique, though I like what I came up with...seems more play-able.
Eventually I think I'd like to try like a paper doll approach but like with velcro?
We just had so much fun with paper dolls when I was a kid, and I think it was partly because it was so easy to change wardrobes and the doll could have such an extensive wardrobe in comparison to a doll-baby.
Glad there's a little girl in my life now. :-) though ellis's first impulse when he saw the Dolly Dingle was try to give her a slobbery kiss. Hmmm. ;-) She fit very well in his hands. I'm very pleased with the size (about 8 or 9 inches in height).
