My last day of grad school
I hate blogging on library computers. These keyboards stink.
Well, it's not exactly my last day of grad school. My it's the last day I ever have to be in class as a student as part of the coursework that leads to a degree someday after a minor detail, like a dissertation, has been completed. So there's some aspect of this that makes today my last day of grad school. I'm so glad.
I still have a lot to do. I'm taking an incomplete. Every semester I say I won't do it again, and every semester I do, but every semester the reasons for taking an incomplete become more dire than teh previous semester's leaving me to wonder if perhaps I shouldn't have taken them earlier. I think my incompletes can be amounted to the hundreds of miles of road between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Without them, my semesters would've been different.
Looking back on my three years of class work, I'd say that the best semester was Fall 2003, the first semester of my second year. I was only commuting on MWF and I wasn't doing anything else (like teaching) on T/Th, thus had the time I needed to do research, write good papers, and really get into a topic and prepare for my classes. I had blast with the big term paper I wrote that sem. I can't remember if I was taking 3 or 4 classes, but I didn't take an incomplete that semester. That fall semester was like the ideal graduate school experience. Generally spring semesters and I don't get along. I dunno what's up. I think I'm allergic to spring or something. It makes me moody and depressed.
I have to make the commute one more time to take a couple of exams a week from today, but other than that, I'm happy to say, that I am a survivor of the NOLA/BR commute. And so is my car.
And I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep....

Congratulations Diber! My SIL and her husband survived that BR to NOLA commute while they were dating.
I admire your accomplishments.
