George Bailey Lassos Stork

We're having a baby!!!!

Today was the big day when we got to see him for the first time. (When I get to a scanner, I'll post the ultrasound photo.) According to the ultrasound, I am 8 weeks and 4 days, with a due date of July 10. My guess was 8 weeks and 3 dates with a due date of July 12, so I was pretty close. We're all healthy as can be. This was the first time I met my ob/gyn, and I was a little nervous, since this whole baby thing is so new, and most of the time, I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. I really, really like the doctor, so I'm very relieved about that. She was really great, and I think I'll feel very comfortable delivering with her. Everybody at the hospital was so nice and friendly and extremely helpful.

These past few weeks, it all really hasn't felt real. I had to keep saying to myself, "So many positive pregnancy tests can't be wrong." Seeing Elvis on the screen--a real live baby inside of me with a head and arms and legs was really astounding. It's for real.

Elvis, you ask? Well, I've written a few posts since I found out I was pregnant, but it's all seemed so surreal that I didn't want to post it on the internet until I saw him with my own eyes, even though we've told a ton of people already anyway. But we've decided to nickname the little bean Elvis, since we'll only get periodic "sightings," and it gives us something to call the baby other than "the baby". Hence, the new category for my blog about this whole pregnancy thing I have named "Elvis sightings". I'll post the past few entries I've written.

Well, Rebecca, I thought I better spell it out as straightforwardly as possible, so that there would be no confusion. Ha!

Hey, congrats again! Talked to your mom last week--wow, a gramma. whew! I never did barf my way through the first trimester either. (Maybe you inherited my stomach...) I did feel queasy a lot, though. I was also really sensitive to smells. I think I was sick only a couple of times in all five pregnancies. Yeah, and I was tired too.

Fun, fun thinking about all the stuff you want to do. That was me and LInnea. :)

Are you going to call Elvis, Elva, if you find out he's a girl??

Jeanette! What exciting news! I am so happy for you, even if that sounds weird coming from a friend of friends who reads your blog. Here's to Elvis. I hear he is seen down in New Orleans almost as often as in Memphis. :)
