woe is me!!

MY COMPUTER IS DEAD!!!!!!!!

I don't know what happened. It has just decided not to start anymore. Chris put his ear to it and said, it sounds like the hard drive.

I'm ruined!!!!!!!!!!! My computer is more important than my car!!!! (you at least can walk if your car dies.) THe thought of hte possibility of never being able to retrieve the information (saved nowhere else, due to the fact that I never got around to buying a zip drive) is horrible, horrible, horrible.

Macs don't do this to you!!!! I feel betrayed!!!!! At least it went quickly. Maybe all hope is not lost. I haven't had it for a year yet, I'm really hoping it's still under warranty.

At any rate, terrible things have befallen me!!!!

my condolences. if anyone can get your info back I'm sure Chris can. or if it's muy importante, there are folks out there who'll get your data for you, for a price of course.

and for the future: a cd-r would be a better option than a zip.
and yes, macs will do that to you too.

None of my macs have ever done that to me!

a bad harddrive is a bad harddrive. it dont care if it's hooked up to a mac, pc, or commodore 64

I had a Commodore 64 back in the day. I loved the games, especially Jumpman.

Boohooo!!!! Well, I am going to find the warranty now. It was a used Mac to begin with anyway. (Chris would see this as a great opportunity for me to switch to Linux, but that ain't happening any time soon for me!!)

I am sooo sorry. I remember when my computer crashed my last semester at Covenant. I lost my whole SIP. I hope you can at least get some things back.

Comments

YOUR SIP!?!??!!?!? Yikes!!! I was actually having a moment of thankfulness that I didn't lose my dissertation (b/c I haven't started working on it, though I did lose some notes that I taken when having a conversation with a super-famous scholar about dissertation ideas). I didn't even lose my term paper that I've been working on all semester, because I had JUST turned it in. Blah. But your SIP!!! THat's truly tragic!!

We're taking ours to KY for Big Uncle Dave (BUD- :>) ) to fix so hopefully No guarantees, however. We'll let you knoe hoe it goes. We're paying him $250. each. There are two. I always thought that computers were a sort of Tower of Babel experience! At least with our Gateways it took lightening to strike it to put it put of biz. And, yes, I am really looking forward to having certain things at my fingertips again, and to be able to work at home on grades, instead of sitting here in the computer room late.
Sorry, Jet.

Jeannette! I find your blog for the first time and come to hear this tragic news. :( I almost (I said "almost") wish I had the excuse of my harddrive crashing to explain my total lack of productivity on my thesis. "Woe is me", the only excuse I have is avoidance. eee.

Charity!! It's great to hear from you!!! I'm working on getting the baby fixed. A prof of mine is a bit of an expert with Macs, so hopefully...

What's your thesis on? Wow, you're already there. That's great!! Let's keep in touch!
