Last week I was in Boston for my very first professional conference as a librarian (more on that later). Sarah Ginny, Nat & G were travelling to Maine and were oh so kind to make a detour to come and spend a little bit with me. It was such a wonderful treat, especially because I got to see Genevieve and oh how she's grown!
Last week Alicia, Fuller & I went to the TN Aquarium for part of the morning. Alicia snapped this photo. It is a new favorite. Oh how I love being an Aunt!!
Today is my brother in law Nat's birthday. Happy 28th Birthday Nat. It's been a good year for him (at least I'd say so) cool new job, cool new baby.
and lots of new cars (with crazy bumper stickers!).
Today my daddy, Major Frederick S. McFarland officially pinned on Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Col). So no more Major dad in our family, I think he suggested Col Pop! We'll see what the grand babies come up with. For those of you who don't know my father has served almost 30 years in the airport, I think 27 to be exact. He was a reservist for many years and went active duty in '89. He's served in Gulf War 1 & 2 and he most recently returned from service in Afghanistan. His service to our country as a chaplain is a gift and a blessing. He's great at what he does and this promotion has been a long time coming. God is good and we are grateful for dad's new promotion.
And to my mom who's served alongside him all these years (37 to be exact). Being a military wife is just as challenging as being a military member. She too has earned this promotion! They are a great team and I'm blessed to have such amazing and generous parents. It's fun to say and really mean it, that my mom and dad are two of my greatest friends and advocates and encourager's!
This is a longer video of Fuller talking to his Grandpa Fred (my dad) on Fuller's 2nd video. When I say longer it's about 2minutes 30 seconds long. But in my very humble opinion it's worth the full amount of time. He's just too cute!
I'm giving Google Video a try. Let's see if this works!
This weekend I spent most of my time with my computer and scanner. I successfully scanned part oone of a multi-part process of digitzing our family photo albums. The photos so far have all been of our family years in Lexington, VA. I must say that really enjoyed spending time with those 20 year old photos. While I had several nostalgic moments the majority of the time I felt an overwhelming sense of thankfulness. I am thankful for the family God has blessed me with.
This summer my parents will celebrate 36 years of marriage. In this day and age that is certainly a rarity. I am grateful the blessing of having parents who are still married to each other. But even more I am thankful for a family that is still connected despite the many miles that separate all of us. God is good
Here is one of my favorite photos from the collection over 1000 photos from Lexington.

Happy Birthday Mom! Today is my mom's birthday. I really have a cool mom. I'm sad I can't be with her today, but I'll drive to Dayton on Saturday to celebrate with her and do some housework for her. So you ask, why do I have a cool mom? Well, she's super creative, she comes up with cool ideas, she's a great editor!, she loves her daughters, her husband, and her grandbaby, Fuller, and her son in laws, oh and her dog Esau. She's a great cook and a great decorater! And well, she's just a great Mom. So on your special day...lots of love and birthday greetings! I love you Momma!
This is my nephew Fuller. And I love this little guy so much! I especially love being his Aunt!
Some may wonder, who is this Stina woman. Well I've had a covblog for over year now but I just never really thought much about posting stuff. Well anyway I'm fasting from watching TV (I get free cable so it's easy to get sucked in) so I now I have lots of extra time on my hands. So you'll probably be hearing from me more often.
See ya around!
