March already?

So I'm not so sure where January and February went. I find it hard to believe that it's already March 4th.

I'm sitting here in my PJs drinking coffee
(on of the perks of being a member of a church that only has evening services) and trying to type with a bandaid on my right index finger. I cut it this morning while washing my kitchen scissors. I seem to be rather prone to injury as of late.

On Friday evening I saw the film Amazing Grace. I highly recommend it. The life of William Wilberforce is one I'm not all the familiar with. But I must say that it was a fasinating and inspiring film. The makers of the film had a variety of reasons to make it. One of them was to raise awareness of the issues surrounding the continued problem of human slavery. But some estimates there are 27 million slaves in the world today. Certainly a travesty and one that needs to be prayerfully and thoughtfully examined. You can visit The Amazing Change to learn more about the work being done to bring justice to those who are in bondage in our world today. While there you can read their petition and if you too disagree with human slavery you can sign it as an act of solidarity.

Next Saturday I'm off to for 8 days in New York City. I'm co-leading a trip with my coworker. We are taking 5 students & 3 staff to work in a soup kitchen for the week. It should certainly be an adventure. We have a free place to stay in Manhattan and daily we'll travel about 1 hour to the Bronx. That in and of itself will certainly be a learning experience for us. I'm exciting to have some extended time in NYC. We're flying JetBlue so hopefully we'll actually get there. :)

Well I should get dressed and see about the day. Hope your sabbath is restful.
Have a good week.
