This one is looking up Main Street in Kent. I actually used to live around the corner from the little coffee shop on the right.

I spent the last week at Oak & Acorn. It's a leadership conference for students who are involved in various CCO ministries. Because, "we celebrate life," in the CCO, it is always necessary to take a "crazy" photo while taking a group photo. And here it is!

And a Happy Mother's day to my older sister Alicia who is now also a mom. It's so fun and cool to see a sister become a mother, especially when it means I get to be Aunt Stina to a way cool nephew, Fuller. Totally an added bonus!

Last week all three of us McFarland Girls wore this "I Love Mom" shirts in honor of our Mother. We do love our Mom! It's exciting to have a day where we can honor our very cool Mom and give her lots of praise and love for the many things that she has done for us over the years.

We I moved to Ohio almost 5 years ago she so lovingly and willingly drove the oh so big Pensky truck from Chattanooga to Kent for me.

Thanks mom for all you do and for all the blood, sweat and tears you've put into raising us girls.

I've been in beautiful and warm Florida for 6 days now. It's been a whirlwind of activity with my sisters, parents and brother in law and super cool nephew Fuller. 6 adults & 1 toddler in a 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment, a memorable trip to say the least. We had a grand party on Friday, we successfully graduated Sarah Ginny from college, and Daddy preached 2 excellent sermons on Sunday. And now it's back to life as usual. Well, at least for this week and then the spring semester is done on Thursday, Baccalaureate on Friday, Commencement on Saturday and then next week I'm off to a conference with students and then well the true craziness of my summer begins!

a thoughtful quote

A quote from John Piper...

Where worship is ignored, fellowship will become thin and man-centered and unspiritual, and evangelism will tend to call people to a social group rather than to a sovereign God. Where nurture is ignored, the deceitfulness of sin will run unchecked in the narrow ruts of individualism and the collective testimony of a loving people will vanish, and the united heart of worship will disintegrate into isolated struggles for private religious experience. And where evangelism is ignored, the recipients of grace become such living contradictions of the reality they profess that soon their worship feels like a sham and their relationships are clogged by a nagging, unspoken sense of inauthenticity.

technology

I just spent 30 minutes typing a lengthy email for something at work and because I'm not at school (i'm in Florida) I have to use the web based format. And after typing the e-mail I clicked send and for some reason I got logged out and the e-mail disappeared. Perhaps it wasn't what I was supposed to say. AHHHH! Now I have to rethink all that stuff over again and it is getting sent late.

Dr. Voskuil gave it to us in Historiography and it changed our way of thinking and viewing history. I loved that course! To this day I can remember sitting in the Mac Hall Computer Lab typing my finals on a gloomy and humid Thursday morning. Alison and I working quickly to finish a last minute final for Historiography. Oh the memories.
