moving

On Sunday I move my stuff to Columbus. Tomorrow my parents and a few friends are coming to help load a Uhaul and then I'll drive south after church on Sunday. I packed a few more boxes this morning. Whenever it's moving time I always regret how much stuff I have. It always ends up being a little overwhelming. I wonder if it's all going to fit in my little apartment. Perhaps it will force me to get rid of more stuff.

weeding

I have been weeding books for the last 4 plus hours. And you thought you could only weed gardens?! I am currently working on the business portion of the library's reference collection. I pull off out of date books from the shelf and then I go through a union catalog and bn.com to find more up to date books of a similar type. Perhaps it sounds boring. I assure you that it is rather interesting. I guess I better get back to my weeds.

Saturday Morning

Here I sit in the 3rd floor Library Science Computer Lab and I'll be here until they kick me out. I have to work on practicum work. And then tonight I'll do a few practice problems for classification. Yippee! Nothing like the Library of Congress Classification system. I can't wait for the days when I won't have to do homework on a Saturday.

the end is near

So I have just over two week left of grad school and I have often wondered if I am going to make it to graduation. I suppose that I will but as always there is so much work left to be done before I can actually get there.

Primarily my Cataloging & Classification course. We just finished learning how to Catalog books and now we are into the classification side of the course. Dewey Decimal and Library of Congress Classifications are pretty difficult. Not so much that they are super complicated more like there are just too many rules and steps. All that work just to have a little alphanumeric code to put a book on the shelf. But if it weren't there what would all us academic types do to find all those books. I just have to keep at it and finish the course.

And then there's my practicum notebook and project...argh. I know it'll all eventually get finished. And in the mean time I have to get busy packing and preping for my new job in Columbus. What's a girl to do? I guess I'll just go to bed.

Off to Florida

Well, Alicia got this blog up and running so hopefully I can finally publish my very first entry. I am almost finished packing, then it's off to my cataloging class, and then I leave for the airport at 3:30! I can't wait...off to Florida for a few days of vacation before I prepare to move.
